STEP 1 — OVERFLOW PIPE ASSEMBLY
Overflow pipe
1. Insert the outlet adaptor into the hole at the base of the CW1800 filter tank body.
2. Fit the O-ring for the outlet adaptor onto the connector thread from the inner side of the filter body.
3. Bring the overflow pipe to the thread of the outlet adaptor and screw the outlet adaptor until both elements are tightly fixed.
STEP 2 — UV CLARIFIER (UVC9W) ASSEMBLY
Prior to installation, insert the UV-C lamp into the UVC9W Water Clarifier following the lamp replacement instructions in the UVC9W manual. The UVC9W must not operate dry — it must be connected to a running pump at all times.
UVC9W fitting
1. Fit the O-ring for the threaded coupling onto the screw nozzle on the body of the UVC9W Water Clarifier.
2. Insert the screw nozzle of the UVC9W into the corresponding opening on the side of the CW1800 filter tank.
3. From inside the filter tank, screw the intermediate coupling onto the UVC9W screw nozzle fully.
4. Screw the spray bar onto the free end of the intermediate coupling, with the spray bar openings facing downward.
5. Secure the UVC9W to the filter tank using the mounting accessories — from inside the filter box: screw, washer, O-ring; from outside: washer, nut.
STEP 3 — CONNECTING PARTS (PUMP → UVC9W → FILTER → POND)
Pump to UVC9W
1. Insert the elbow adaptor into the corresponding screw ring.
2. Connect one piece of kink-free hose to the pump outlet.
3. Connect the other end of this hose to one of the two included adaptors (which accommodate 1″ or 1-1/4″ / 25 mm or 32 mm hose), pressing until the hose seats at the adaptor base. Fasten with a screw clamp (not included).
4. Install a gasket into the adaptor nut, ensuring it seats at the nut base.
5. Screw the assembled adaptor onto one of the screw nozzles on the UVC9W Water Clarifier body.
Filter tank to pond (return line)
6. Cut the drain tube to match the required hose diameter. Connect the kink-free hose to the drain tube and fasten with a screw clamp.
7. Place the free end of the kink-free hose into the pond to return filtered water.
Power cord routing: Form the power cord of both the FP550 pump and UVC9W clarifier into a drip loop — a downward-facing loop before the plug reaches the socket — to prevent water runoff reaching the socket. Do not run the supply cable underground. Connect to an RCD (residual current device) rated ≤ 30 mA. Verify the voltage on each appliance label corresponds to the mains voltage before connecting.
STEP 4 — LOADING FILTER MEDIA
Filter media loading order
1. Unpack the Bio-Sphere media and distribute evenly across the tank bottom.
2. Place the coarse filter sponge (black, 31PS182) inside the filter tank with the hole positioned over the overflow pipe.
3. Place the fine filter sponge (blue, 31PS181) on top of the coarse sponge, also with the hole over the overflow pipe.
4. Close the filter tank with the lid.
Important: filter media order must be followed exactly — coarse sponge below, fine sponge above. Incorrect order will reduce filtration capacity. See Troubleshooting (Section 06).
