Product Details:

PondMAX SA3 is a complete solar pond aeration kit that keeps water oxygenated without an electrical outlet or wiring. A solar panel charges a built-in battery backup, so the air pump keeps running at night and on overcast days. The kit includes a solar panel, battery backup, air pump, two 15 ft air hoses, and air stones — everything needed to bring reliable, off-grid aeration to a garden pond, water feature, or outdoor aquarium.

FEATURES
  • Operate in direct sunlight for efficient operation

  • Outdoor rated – IP44-rated pump, battery backup, and solar panel for reliable outdoor use

  • Advanced brushless motor technology — delivers strong efficiency and a longer service life than standard motors

  • Dual air outlets — two 15 ft hoses and air stones let you aerate two points in the pond at once

  • Easy to maintain and install – No outlet or wiring required — solar panel and battery backup power the pump anywhere in the yard

PondMAX SA3 Solar Air Pump Kit is a solar pond aeration kit designed to oxygenate outdoor water features without depending on a nearby power outlet. It’s built for garden ponds, outdoor aquariums, and other water features that need reliable circulation but don’t have convenient access to electricity.

A 5-watt solar panel keeps a built-in Fe-Li battery backup charged throughout the day, so the air pump can keep running at night and through overcast stretches, not just in direct sun. The pump itself uses DC brushless motor technology, giving it strong efficiency and a long service life. An indicator LED shows the battery’s charging status at a glance — green for a healthy charge, yellow while topping off, and red when it’s time to let the battery recharge.

Each kit includes two 15 ft air hoses and air stones, so aeration can be spread across two points in the pond for more even, pervasive circulation. Setup is straightforward: the solar panel mounts on a ground spike in a sunny spot, the battery backup and pump sit in a dry location above the waterline, and the air stones rest on the pond floor.  With an IP44 safety rating across the pump, battery backup, and solar panel, and a 2-year limited warranty, the SA3 is built to handle outdoor conditions and provide dependable aeration season after season.

How it works

  • The solar panel converts sunlight into energy and charges the Fe-Li battery backup during the day.
  • The battery backup stores that energy, so the air pump can keep running at night or on overcast days.
  • The air pump uses a DC brushless motor to compress air and push it through two air hoses.
  • Each hose carries air to a submerged air stone, which diffuses it into a steady stream of bubbles.
  • Rising bubbles increase surface agitation and oxygen exchange, helping circulate the water and support fish and beneficial bacteria.
  • An indicator LED on the battery backup shows charge status — green for a healthy charge, yellow while topping off after a low-battery event, and red when the battery needs to recharge.

How to install (View more details in our instruction manual)

  1. Roll out the air hoses and cables on the air pump and battery backup.
  2. Fit each of the two hoses to the connector of each of the two air stones.
  3. Connect the other, spare end of each hose to each of the two air outlets on the air pump.
  4. Place the air pump and battery backup on a dry, safe spot near the pond, positioned higher than the water level to prevent water from flowing back into the pump through the hose when it isn’t running.
  5. Lay the two air stones in the pond, spacing them a good distance apart so air is distributed more evenly.
  6. Assemble the three pieces of the ground spike and mount it to the back of the solar panel with the gland nut.
  7. Mount the solar panel in a sunny spot using the ground spike, facing the panel toward the sun.
  8. Insert the battery backup’s plug into the solar panel’s socket and tighten the nut completely.
  9. Insert the air pump’s plug into the battery backup’s socket and tighten the nut completely.
  10. Switch the battery backup’s ON/OFF switch to ON. The indicator LED should turn green and the pump will start running. A red LED on first use is normal — let it charge in sunlight for 2–3 hours until it turns green.

The pump automatically stops when the battery reaches its low-voltage limit (LED turns red) and resumes once it’s recharged (LED cycles red → yellow → green). To run the pump on a day with little sun, pre-charge the battery ahead of time by switching it OFF during a sunny stretch, then back ON when needed — the battery charges in sunlight regardless of the switch position.
