PondMAX Ultra Series is a high-efficiency pressurized pond filter system designed to deliver clear, healthy pond water in garden ponds, koi ponds, and water features. Available with an integrated UV-C clarifier, this UV pond filter system helps control green water algae and maintain clean pond water even in full sun conditions.
This pressurized biological pond filter provides effective mechanical and biological pond filtration in a compact footprint. Internal double-action sponge media and quality biomedia (models PF2400 and larger) support beneficial bacteria for balanced, natural pond conditions. Simple to install on both new and existing ponds, this bio pressure pond filter works with any appropriately sized water pump (not included) to keep your pond clean and thriving — with or without fish.
The built-in backwash system simplifies maintenance through a top-mounted diverter valve, sponge squeezing handle to loosen debris, and a waste water outlet for discharge during cleaning. This low-maintenance pond filter system is engineered for consistent performance with minimal effort, making it an ideal solution for pressurized pond cleaning in any garden or koi pond filter system setup.
How it works
Dirty water enters the filter through the hose inlet from the pump.
Water is directed around the perimeter, creating a pressurized vortex for particle separation.
Water passes through durable sponge media for effective bio-mechanical filtration.
The UV-C chamber eliminates algae, helping prevent green water.
Clean, filtered water exits through the hose outlet back to the pond.
The diverter valve switches flow from filter mode to rinse mode.
The sponge squeezing handle agitates media to loosen debris.
The waste water outlet allows discharge of dirty water during cleaning.
Placement by the pond
Pond water is pumped from the pond using a water pump placed in an area providing the best circulation. Water passes through the Ultra Series pressure pond filter, where it is mechanically and biologically filtered. The integrated UV treats single-cell algae (green water), providing complete pond filtration and helping maintain clean, healthy water throughout the season.
This pressurized pond filter is an excellent choice for pond owners looking to clean dirty pond water, combat full sun algae growth, and build a reliable koi pond filter system or garden fountain filtration setup.

INSTALLATION
1. (With UV-C Option) Have a licensed electrician install a weatherproof power point near to the pond or water feature (within the cable length of the filter).
2. Identify a suitable location for your new pressure filter. The pressure filter can be used in between a pump and a water feature or waterfall. The filter can also be partially buried to help disguise it in your garden. It is important to return the clean filtered water from your filter to the opposite end of your pond to where the pump suction is located.
3. Connect anti-kink hose or poly tubing from your pump to the inlet of the filter. Your filter has a three step hose tail to fit 1”, 1-1/4”, 1-1/2” diameter hose or tube. Make sure to cut o the hose tails that are smaller than the hose or tube size being used. Eg: If using 1-1/2” hose, cut o the 1” and 1-1/4” sections. Please use the largest size tubing possible. We recommend using PondMax hose clamps for a leak free connection.
4. Connect tubing from the outlet of the filter back into your pond at the opposite end to where you are pumping from.
You can have the outlet of the filter running into a waterfall. You only need to connect tubing to the back-flush outlet if you require the dirty water from the backwash to be diverted to a specific location.
5. If the flow from your pump is greater than the recommended max flow, you must reduce the flow, or bypass some of the flow with a Y fitting. The pressure must not exceed 6.5 PSI or 15 feet of head.
6. (With UV-C Option) Turn your pump on and then plug in the UV-C unit on the filter, if applicable. The UV-C unit should not be turned on if there is no water flowing past the UV-C lamp.
7. You can help boost the biological function of your filter with PondMax Bacteria. Now sit back, relax and enjoy a clean and healthy pond.
